In order to expedite the process, please read the requirements carefully.

Documents Required:

All documentation should be presented in their original form, if required, or properly legalized photocopies, in admissible cases, in a fastened folder. In the following order:
  1. "Aplicación de Visa" (Visa Application), typed and triplicated. For the dependent (Amparo) VISAS, information for family members should be included on the back side of the application.

  2. Attach to each application, 1 passport photo in color, white background. (3 total)

  3. Present a letter applying for a Visa, on a letterhead paper, signed by the interested party or the legal representative of the company who is sponsoring the individual (President, Manager, etc, who will be able to document your qualifications), detailing your reasons for applying for the Visa.

  4. Current certification R.U.C. "Registro Unico de Contribuyente" of the sponsor.

  5. Current certification of fulfillment of obligations and legal existence of the company, issued by the Superintendents of Companies (Superintendencia de Compañias).

  6. Actualized certification stating that the sponsor does not have pending obligations with the Social Security Office (IESS).

  7. Authorization to work issued by the Ministry of Labor or Certification that this is not required.
    • Work contract registered in the Department of Labor ("Dirección de Trabajo" in Ecuador),
    • Or appointment as President, Manager or other official, properly registered with the Business Bureau Office ("Registro Mercantil").
    • Or original letter of sponsorship from the main headquarters, legalized by an Ecuadorian Consulate; it needs to be translated into Spanish if the original is in a foreign language.
    • Or, if this is a civil contract offering professional services, it should be properly registered with a civil judge or a notary.

  8. Certificate of Incorporation of the company, properly registered with the Business Bureau Office ("Registro Mercantil").

  9. When soliciting the Visa, Passport must be valid for at least 6 months, in the folder please include the original and a photocopy of the passport.

  10. In order to apply for a Visa 12-VI in Ecuador, you must have a current Visa issued by a consulate, or a current visa issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ("Dirección General de Asuntos Migratorios y Extranjería"), this Visa must have been registered (within 30 days of your arrival in Ecuador) in the Ministry of Government ("Dirección General de Extranjerìa del Ministerio de Gobierno") (Ave. 10 de Agosto and Murgeon).

  11. Those foreign citizens who wish to obtain work Visas and have entered Ecuador with a registered transit Visa by airport or on the border (Visas T3, T2, must return to the place of origin or residence, in order to obtain a consular Visa.

  12. In order to obtain dependent (Amparo) Visas for applicant's family members you must enclose the following: a marriage certificate, if applying for a spouse, or a birth certificate for each child. All documents must be properly legalized with an "Apostille".

  13. A university or a technical degree, properly legalized with an "Apostille" in the country of origin is required, if in another language it must be previously translated into Spanish. A resume must be presented in order to confirm the qualifications of the applicant.

  14. For Colombian citizens in all cases, apart from these requirements, it is also imperative that you present a police record ("Pasado Judicial"), which must be legalized in the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Bogotá (with "Apostille").

  15. For citizens of other countries, a police record is required from your country of origin or your country of residence.
